 FCACheartsJogja, 2014

Footscray Community Arts Centre and Australian Embassy Jakarta’s Arts and Cultural Program 2014 presented FCACheartsJogja in 2014, a joint contemporary arts initiative between FCAC, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival (CPAF) and Jogjakarta artists. FCACheartsJogja was an international cultural diplomacy reciprocal artist residency program that includes exhibitions, an installation, performance, a publication and workshops. 

Five FCAC and Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival (CPAF) artists – Jacob Tolo, Salote Tawale, Heather Horrocks, Alia Gabres and Bo Svoronos – teamed up with Jogjakarta based artists and cultural organisations including Kunci Cultural Studies Centre, Indonesian Contemporary Art Network (ICAN), Ace House Collective, SURVIVE Garage, Cemeti Arts House and Krack Gallery. Joining the tour for a research component was Dr Marnie Badham from University of Melbourne Centre for Cultural Partnerships. 

From 4 - 25 June, Meleponi Pasifika, originally exhibited in 2013 as part of the Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival, was presented at ICAN during the annual Art Jog Fair. The FCACheartsJogja program also included Exquisite Corpstallation a collaborative installation at ACE House Collective; a paste-up exchange with SURVIVEGarage; a publication; skills sharing opportunities and a number of artistic and critical forums.
